According to the approval of the new organizational structure of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives dated 2060/08/04, along with the reorganization of the Department of Agriculture, the Sericulture Development Program, Syangja, was established under the Directorate of Commercial Insect Development.
Since its inception, this office has been actively conducting programs related to sericulture promotion. In the year 2075, with the country moving to a federal democratic structure, the Sericulture Development Program has been working as a subordinate office of the Directorate of Agricultural Development under the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Gandaki Province. Since 2076/077, this office has been running programs related to bees and mushrooms along with silk. Realizing the need for a state-level agricultural development farm/centre in Gandaki province, in the year 2077, Silk Development Program, renamed as Syangja, was established as Agricultural Development Resource Center.
